General

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a worldwide active non-profit service company for international cooperation. User analysis

The GIZ website uses services of etracker GmbH from Hamburg, Germany (www.etracker.com) to analyze usage data. Every time a user accesses the GIZ website or retrieves a file, data on this process is temporarily stored and processed in a log file. Before storage, each data record is made anonymous by changing the IP address.

In detail, the following data is stored about each access/retrieval:

  • technical characteristics of the browser used,
  • anonymized IP address,
  • date and time,
  • page/name of the retrieved file,
  • transmitted data volume,
  • A message indicating whether the access/retrieval was successful.

Cookies

When individual pages are called up, so-called temporary cookies are used to facilitate navigation. Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in the cache of the visitor’s Internet browser. These session cookies do not contain any personal data and expire at the end of the session or after the end of a user survey, which is usually carried out every two years.

Techniques such as Java applets or Active-X controls, which make it possible to trace the access behavior of users, are not used.

The processing of the data takes place on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 f) EU DSGVO with the legitimate interest of the usage analysis for the improvement of the website.

It is possible to object to the processing of user data to analyse user behaviour. You can deactivate the collection of user data by clicking on the link below.

For this purpose, a cookie is stored on the terminal device, which prevents the collection of user data when visiting this website. In order for the contradiction to take effect, the cookie must be stored on each terminal device used. Since the cookie is stored in the respective browser (Internet program), the cookie must be stored in each browser if several browsers are used on one end device (e.g. Internet Explorer, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox). It should also be noted that if all cookies are deleted, the objection cookie is also deleted and must then be stored again.

Temporary cookies etracker: These session cookies are used for user analysis (see above). They do not contain any personal data and expire at the end of the session or after the end of a user survey, which is usually carried out every two years.
